Ingredients for Making Diamond Cookies

Cooking Diamond Cookies:

Step 1: Cook the dough.

Cool the butter so that it is at room temperature, place it in a deep bowl, add the powdered sugar to it. Mix everything wellto get a creamy mixture. To do this, you can use the culinary spatula or mixer. In the latter case, you do not need to whip heavily.

Step 2: Add the flour and knead the dough.

In the resulting oil mixture, add a little salt, vanilla extract, and previously sifted through fine sieve flour. Now you can knead soft and tender dough with a spatula or combine.

Step 3: Form the sausages from the dough.

From the resulting dough, form small sausages, the diameter of which should be approximately in 2 cm, and the length about 15-20 cm. Put the sausages from the dough on a cutting board, at a certain distance from each other so that they do not stick together. It is advisable to sprinkle the board in advance with flour. Now put them in the fridge, 4 hours minimumso that they froze well, and best of all, all night.

Step 4: Grease the sausages with an egg and sprinkle with sugar.

When the sausages are well frozen, remove them from the cold. Break the egg into a small bowl and beat it slightly with a regular fork. Then every sausage from all sides grease with an egg. Then you can sprinkle sausages with sugar, also from all sides, or directly roll them in sugar.

Step 5: Form and bake cookies.

Now cut each sausage into small pieces, the thickness of which should be about 2 cm. Grease a baking sheet with butter, carefully lay out the cookie blanks. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and place a cookie sheet on it. Bake about 20-25 minutes. As soon as the cookies are browned, remove the pan from the oven.

Step 6: Serve the diamond cookies.

Let it cool slightly, then transfer to a serving dish and serve with tea, cocoa or coffee. Good appetite!

Recipe Tips:

- - The presence of powdered sugar, and not granulated sugar, is mandatory! Indeed, if you add granulated sugar to the dough, the result will not be such a delicate structure of the dough. And if you don’t have icing sugar, then grind the sugar in an ordinary coffee grinder, to the icing state.

- - The longer dough sausages stand in the refrigerator, the more convenient it will be for you to work with them later. But, if you don’t have so much time, it doesn’t matter! You can put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes so that they harden.

- - Cut the sausages from the dough is best with a very sharp and thin knife.
